Tour 2009

DISNEYLAND!!!

Meeting Jack Sparrow himself.

Alex, Ike, and Andres Bsoque

Ellie Wellie!

Tour is a blast.

Tour this year was so much fun. So fun in fact, everything seemed to be a blur. Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Matterhorn, stop to get a slushie, Space Mountain, fireworks, fastpass to Indiana Jones, stumble into the hotel room in the A.M.... and repeat!
Dan and Brianna, sittin' on a bench...

Tour is worth every penny. This was my second year and I had even more fun than I did last year.
I had the most awesome Tour buddy this year- Ike. He was a great guy to hang out with and he made it so much fun. My favorite moments with him were singing the ska version of "Take On Me" performed by Reel Big Fish just to annoy Pehrson (but later because it was so fun), watching him wrestle "The Black Bear" Bjorn, and just talking about girls and important stuff like that.

"Looks like he isn't better than delivery!"
Good lookin' Scott

Even the bus ride there was fun. Ike and I pestered Perhson every so often, talked with our neighbors Lexi and Lauren, and tried to sleep. Sleep was nigh unto impossible to achieve, especially with my long legs. I had to steal some seat space from my neighbor during the night, who in turn propped their legs on me.
We got to the beach around 8:00 A.M. after a nights journey across the West. Ahhh, the Cali sun! Ahhh, the Cali prices! It was a bit breezy out but nice to stroll through the sand.

That afternoon we checked into our hotel room and got ready to see the play "Mama Mia". My room was great-- Bjorn, Alex, Ike, Nate, and Matty boy Lynch! They were good company to have at the days end. I won't divulge what was said in that hotel room, but it included some important stuff.
Jentry, Lauren, and "My Little Raindrop"

Mama Mia was disgusting. I was revolted by their crude lines and profane jokes. The dirty jokes were always followed by some rude gesture. I spent the show wishing I could leave with my head down. It was so gross. I'll never listen to ABBA music the same because of it. Don't go watch it-- not only is it dirty but it has a weak plot. Its a silly, stupid story where somebody threw sex and ABBA together. A big dissapointment after seeing Wicked the year previous.

Nice shades Emily!

"Mama Mia" did not mar the trip for long. The next day was a beautiful, long day in the Happiest Place on Earth. Disneyland!!! I hung out with loads of great people-- Ike, Alex, Bjorn, Kelsey, Rachel, Craig, Porter, Jentry, Lauren, Brianna (You're not shy!), Ellie Wellie!, Jen, Jamie, Melinda, Alyssa (My Little Raindrop), Lexi, Scott, and more.
Group Pose!

Jen and her tongue.

Spending time with all of these great people was easily my favorite aspect of the whole trip. I loved being around my friends and having the time to become better friends with some people that I don't normally see or talk to. I really miss not being able to see these guys as much as I could when I was on Tour.
My favorite ride was Space Mountain. No wait, Screamin' was. Or was Tower of Terror (Terror of Tower!, nicknamed "Towerphobia) my favorite? I don't know, they were all so fun. This year we hit the big rides as many times as we could, and we got more than enough excitement and thrill from them. There were a lot of great photos taken during Screamin', Space Mountain, and Towerphobia (I need all of your photos by the way!)
Ike got a special treat this Tour trip when his best friends Morgan, Braeden, and Kenny drove from Utah to visit him for a day. I've never seen Ike move so fast when he saw those three in the lobby Saturday morning.

We found tree huggers at the beach.

Our orchestra performance in Disneyland was ok. I played terribly and we all were a little timid.
Sunday was a great day- I attended church and then went on a harbor cruise. Ohhh so relaxing! It was so nice to stop and take a breather from all the excitement of Disneyland and chillax.
Ellie and I were mischevious (we did a lot of "trickster" stuff on Tour) and would throw plastic eggs at people on the boat. I hit Mrs. Dalgleish a couple times for some big points in a game Ellie and I were playing. The next time I saw Mrs. Dalgleish she exclaimed "Here comes trouble!"

Mrs. Dalgleish gave me that look all trip long...

Mass that night was good. Ten minutes prior to starting Mr. Bentley asked me to play "Nada Te Turbe", a solo I play with the choir. I wasn't expecting this at all. I didn't have my music and had to read off a choir book, which was difficult because the size of the music was tiny and it extended over 8-10 pages.
I freaked out but managed to make it through the song and hit the high notes. Craig kept messing up on the page turns and even dropped some of the sheets, but it was ok. The Haydn performance went well and I was satisfied with how we played despite our exhaustion. I enjoyed attending the mass, it is a great way to step out of the "Mormon" realm and become more cultured.
Monday was our final day in Disneyland. We were all plumb-tuckered out so we rode the train twice among other relaxing rides. 1:00 A.M. we boarded the buses for the 14 hour ride home. I slept like a log on the ground and was dismayed to wake up to gray, rainy weather. Ike and I sang our song on the bus ride home and found it difficult to hit the really high note; our voices were spent. It was a very hard thing to come back into the real world.

I had managed to get in trouble twice with my hoody that "broke" Tour dress code (and had it confiscated), snapped 815 photos, enjoyed Cali sun and weather, videoed three wrestling videos, got in trouble with the hotel, made a "PDA" video, had a "girlfriend" while strolling through Disneyland, created a secret handshake with one of my best friends, and had so much fun with friends. I'm going to miss hanging out with all of the seniors, you guys are so great.

Tour is a blast. Thanks for making everything so fun!

By the way, the pictures in Kelsey's "Files of PDA" on her Facebook aren't actually me. They found a guy in California that looked like me to pose with them.

Craig and the legendary Mohawk!

Seriously. Best. Tour. Ever. I love that you documented it; I haven't gotten around to that yet. Reading the post brings back great memories. Makes me kind of sad that it's over. But for now, I'm just glad it happened. Thanks for the fun post!
